Big-box sectional gutters come in short pieces joined every 10 feet or so. Every joint is a seam that can drip as sealant ages.
Seamless gutters are roll-formed on site from a coil of metal to the exact length of each run. The only joints are at corners and downspouts, so there are far fewer places for leaks to start.
